Changes to NICE Guidelines for CFS/ME

I recently wrote to the Government on behalf of a constituent about the need for a revision of the NICE guidelines for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME). The constituent felt that the current focus on CBT and GET was not effectively keeping up with the latest biological research. I am thrilled that NICE has decided to now to fully review and update the guidelines for diagnosis and management of CFS/ME.

Advice to Concerned Residents Living in High-Rise Buildings in West Yorkshire

Following the tragic fire in Grenfell Tower, I have written to the Prime Minister to ensure our fire safety laws are fit for purpose and are enforced correctly.

Last week I wrote to Jacqui Gedman, the Chief Executive of Kirklees Council, to seek reassurance that all due care and attention was made in the building and refurbishment of tower blocks in Huddersfield and ensure that residents have been given thorough and correct safety advice.

I have also written to both Kirklees Council and Justine Greening, the Secretary of State for Education, about fire safety in Schools. In particular I want to ensure that all new schools have been fitted with sprinklers.

Advice from the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to concerned residents living in high-rise buildings in West Yorkshire can be found here: http://www.westyorksfire.gov.uk/news/advice-to-concerned-residents-living-in-high-rise-buildings-in-west-yorkshire/

My thoughts are with the residents of Grenfell Tower and their families and I give my thanks to the fire crews and other emergency services who have worked so hard during this awful incident.
