I recently wrote to the Government on behalf of a constituent about the need for a revision of the NICE guidelines for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME). The constituent felt that the current focus on CBT and GET was not effectively keeping up with the latest biological research. I am thrilled that NICE has decided to now to fully review and update the guidelines for diagnosis and management of CFS/ME.
According to NICE, over 190,000 people suffer from CFS/ME in the UK. Therefore, it is important we are seeking to ensure the best treatment for those with the condition.
