I hosted an exhibition of photographs taken by Huddersfield’s own William Wintercross in Parliament. I was proud to raise awareness of the plight of the Syrian people and to showcase William’s talent too.
In association with the Syrian Refugee Relief Fund, a charity founded by William and his father, this photo exhibition aimed to shed a light on the distressing humanitarian crisis in Syria and to help prompt a response.
After spending time in Aleppo and other war torn parts of the country William felt compelled to do more than just report on it and wanted to help directly. The Syrian Refugee Relief Fund was set up to raise urgent funds to provide relief to refugees in Syria and surrounding countries. Working with Syrian Relief, the charity aims to reach those most in need as soon as possible to provide immediate care.
William and I both spoke at this exhibition, focusing on the crisis in Syria and its devastating implications for the millions of displaced Syrian refugees.
Williams work is also currently exhibited at the University of Huddersfield.
