This weekend (Friday 16 – Sunday 18 June 2017) is the Great Get Together, which was initiated by Brendan Cox in memory of his wife, and my friend, Jo Cox MP. Jo was in the process of setting up the Loneliness Commission when she was murdered and this fantastic initiative is now being run in her memory.
As Jo was our neighbouring MP, I am so pleased to see Huddersfield honour Jo’s life and legacy with a huge number of community events. A list of these events, which includes picnics, family fun days and barbeques, can be found here: http://www.examiner.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/great-together-events-remember-jo-13178301
More information about The Great Get Together is available here: https://www.greatgettogether.org/
Jo loved a party and would have be thrilled to see communities come together to have a good time, to fight loneliness and division, and to unite for a good cause.
